Dear San Gabriel/Pomona Regional Center Community:
You are in our hearts and minds during these recent tragic events. We are saddened and we grieve. We feel the hurt and pain with the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery and countless others. Black lives matter. All lives matter. Please contact your Service Coordinator or the Parent’s Place should you need counselling supports as we individually and collectively process these events.
The spotlight is shining on racism and social injustices. It can no longer hide in darkness. Each of us play a role in creating the change we need. We are the architects of the future we want. We must remain vigilant. Racism and social injustices travel in all directions and come from many different sources. This can harbor in people of all ethnicities and origins. We must stamp out racism in its entirety. We cannot stand with racism or remain silent to let it live. We will do our part and we know our community will do its part, which is something that we always do.
We are the human race. We share dreams. A life of choice, with liberty, and equity. “Equality” and equal treatment for everyone are human rights we revere and uplifts us to be the best that we can be.
As leaders we act through our values. Positive change is fueled through our freewill and willingness to open our hearts for one another with compassion, active listening, human decency, respect, and acceptance that change must happen. We become a better society when we free ourselves of racism and social injustices. Each of us have a role to play and a responsibility as we pursue a better society. Our younger generations are currently fueling our change and they with us are standing tall against racism and social injustices.
We will keep the SG/PRC mission alive and make certain that it remains breathing through each of us. We are committed in our efforts to dismantle systemic barriers that create space for disparities and social injustices. Our communities are counting on us. Our families are watching us. Our children are emulating us. We know we can and must be better. All of us see that day when we persistently protect and care for each person within our human race. Our most cherished treasure. We will get there. Others will follow our lead.
As always, your goodwill and positive outlook in the face of the challenges that we currently face including ongoing racial and social injustices, COVID-19, and economic uncertainty demonstrate our unity, love and respect for each other and all humankind. SG/PRC Community, we are united. We are with you always. Stay well and remain safe.
With kindest regards,
Anthony Hill, M.A. Esq.
